SAFETY MEASURES ADOPTED IN THE BUSES
School Buses
- Have been clearly marked as “School Bus” on the front and back.
- Have been equipped with a speed governor, fire extinguisher, and first-aid kit.
- Have horizontal grills on the windows to prevent students from falling out.
- Have doors that lock automatically when the bus is moving.
- Buses have a proper space for students to store their belongings.
- Buses have a qualified attendant on board to supervise the students.
- Busses have GPS tracking technology to monitor buses and ensure that they are following safe driving practices.
- HD CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor student behaviour and to provide evidence in the event of an incident.
- Have First aid kits on board school buses in case of an emergency
- Drivers inspect their buses before each trip to ensure that they are in safe operating condition
- School buses of our school have stricter speed limits than passenger vehicles.
In addition to these safety features, schools and bus drivers also implement a number of safety procedures to protect students. These procedures include:
- High visibility: School buses are painted yellow and have flashing red lights and stop arms to make them highly visible to other motorists.
- Compartmentalization: School buses are designed to protect passengers from crashes by distributing the force of impact over a wider area. This is achieved through the use of strong, closely-spaced seats with energy-absorbing seat backs.
- Safety glass: School bus windows are made of safety glass, which is designed to shatter into small pieces that are less likely to cause serious injuries.
- Emergency exits: School buses have multiple emergency exits, including doors and windows, to allow students to evacuate quickly in an emergency.
- Safety features for the driver: School bus drivers have a number of safety features at their disposal, such as mirrors, warning devices, and a speed governor.
